Course Description: This class is recommended for 7th – 12th grade. Students do NOT need to have taken part I. There is no prerequisite for this class. Using various resources, students will study Latin and Greek roots, prefixes, and suffixes. They will learn the meaning of about 100 roots to help improve their performance in vocabulary, spelling, reading comprehension, and standardized tests. Since much of the English language comes from these classical languages, mastering the roots will help unlock the meaning of thousands of words by learning to decode them. Several activities and games (Bingo, Flash Cards, Rummy Roots) will be played for additional reinforcement.
