Course Description: In this class we will study the history of American media, ethical principles, media’s role and responsibilities, and recognizing bias and propaganda. We will become cover the interview process, writing and editing news leads, headlines, feature stories, sports stories, editorials, and columns. We will also be periodically producing our school newsletter, The Southside Scoop. Students will need to understand the importance of contributing written articles and the significance of meeting deadlines. A possible field trip and guest speaker may be scheduled.
