Course Description: This course is designed to give the student a broad sampling of the many disciplines of science. Using a variety of resources, the class will learn about subjects such as: chemistry, the universe, climate and weather, minerals and other materials, energy, the environment, the plant world, insects, the microscopic world, and communications. Each area is approached in a unit study format with labs. This class also meets the requirement for an Earth Science credit. Three to four field trips will be planned. Possible options are kayaking, ropes course, Randolph Macon’s Observatory, and Dutch Gap environmental hike. The course topics are revamped each year to keep it fresh and to reflect the students’ area of interest.
