Course Description: This class is for beginners as well as returning students, meeting twice a week with a choice of 3rd or 4th period. The focus will be on developing skills and imaginative ideas through technique and style. We will be working with a variety of media, giving each student the opportunity to grasp a basic understanding of the art world and art making process. Drawing is the fundamental skill in art education. Observation drawing (drawing what your eye sees) will be explored and the student will be required to keep a sketchbook. All projects will focus on the elements of art: line, shape/form, space, color, value, and texture. A variety of media will be used including oil pastels (a class favorite), colored pencils, markers, watercolors, and others.
